This course will teach students the steps involved in the CNG conversion of a vehicle, as well as preparation and component installation procedures. Students will determine the correct location of all components, install them, and test them for safety/integrity. Post conversion, testing of the vehicle will confirm acceptable drivability and operation, and ensure proper functioning of emissions control devices.

AUTO 0710 - CNG - High Pressure Systems Inspection 30 contact hours
This course will offer the students the opportunity to learn about safety when working with high pressure compressed natural gas. Students will be introduced to natural gas fuel system components and the installation guidelines addressed by NFPA52. We will address the applicable standards for fuel storage cylinders and pressure relief devices. Last, students will perform a physical assessment of the CNG cylinders and system components.

This course in flight training emphasizes the development of critical thinking, cross-country planning, and decision-making skills. Students take an active role, learning to recognize, understand, and manage aircraft systems and malfunctions, demonstrate safe airport operations, and exercise sound decision-making skills.

Students gain aeronautical knowledge and experience through continued flight training. This course allows students not enrolled in another certification course to receive additional training and flight hours towards their FAA certifications as part of USU’s Part 141 flight training program.
