ELED 4040 - Assessment and Instruction for Struggling Readers (CI)


CI Communications Intensive
3 credits

This course prepares students to use reading assessment data to identify elementary students' reading strengths and weaknesses and plan instruction. Special attention is given to providing explicit differentiated reading instruction for students who struggle with learning to read.

Prerequisite/Restriction:
  • Minimum Level II GPA of 3.00 
  • TEAL 3000  with a grade of B- or better
  • ELED 3005  with a grade of B- or better
  • ELED 3100  with a grade of B- or better
  • SPED 4000  with a grade of B- or better
  • TEAL 3660  or PSY 3660  with a grade of B- or better
  • SPED 5530 ITLS 4015 , ITLS 5500 , or TEAL 5500   with a grade of B- or better
  • For Elementary Education program students not earning a dual certificate in Special Education, a B- or better is also required in ELED 4150
