PHYS 6530 - Solid State Physics I

Development of the modern theory of the solid state. Emphasis placed on understanding the bulk properties of the solids, including crystal structure, cohesive properties, electronic structure, and lattice dynamics. Explores response to added stimuli, such as electric, magnetic, and optical fields.

Prerequisite/Restriction: PHYS 4600  and PHYS 4710 ; PHYS 6410  (can be taken concurrently).
