Mechanical Engineering students must take a total of 15 credits (5 courses) worth of Technical Electives. If a student takes MAE 1010 within the first 30 credits of the Pre-Professional Program, they are required to take 12 credit hours (4 courses) worth of technical electives. The Aerospace Emphasis requires 12 credits (4 courses) of the technical electives to be aerospace.
One elective course must be MAE 5500 or MAE 5560 .
The other three elective courses may be any of the following:
Aircraft
MAE 5330: Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (3) (Spring)
MAE 5500: Aerodynamics (3) (Fall)
MAE 5510: Dynamics of Atmospheric Flight (3) (Spring)
Propulsion
MAE 5420: Compressible Fluid Flow (3) (Fall)
MAE 5540: Propulsion Systems (3) (Spring)
Solids/Structures
MAE 5020: Finite Element Methods in Solid Mechanics I (3) (Fall)
MAE 5060: Mechanics of Composite Materials I (3) (Spring)
MAE 5670: Fracture Mechanics (3) (Fall)
Space
ECE 5230: Spacecraft Systems Engineering (3) (Fall)
ECE 5240: Space System Design (3) (Spring)
