Foreign Language Examinations

Utah State University offers Spanish, French, German, Russian, Chinese, and Japanese placement tests (some tests are only offered in Logan). You must be a USU student with an A-number to take this test. These exams test your proficiency to determine placement into the correct course. If your language skills have been acquired by means other than college courses, you may earn up to 16 lower-division credits (20 for Japanese) by examination. To purchase the credits, you must be a registered student and taking classes at USU. Students with skills in a language other than those offered by the department may earn up to 16 pass/fail credits by successfully performing a BYU Flats test given in the Department of World Languages and Cultures. Schedule an appointment with Jasmine Morales.
