MUSC 3140 - Musical Form and Analysis

3 credits

Study of imitative, cantus firmus, ostinato, and free contrapuntal procedures of Western music. Explores techniques of Sixteenth Century counterpoint. Also includes study of phrase and period structure, small part fonts, theme and variations, rondo and sonata forms, and vocal forms.

Prerequisite/Restriction: MUSC 2110 .
