MATH 5410 - Methods of Applied Mathematics 3 credits
Basic modeling and qualitative understanding, including dimensional analysis (Buckingham Pi theorem). Asymptotic solutions, perturbation approaches, boundary layers in differential equations, variational calculus, Hamilton’s principle, and conservation of energy. Emphasizes practical approaches to science and engineering problems.
Prerequisite/Restriction: C- or better in MATH 2210 , MATH 2250 ; or C- or better in MATH 2210 , MATH 2270 , MATH 2280 .
