Overview

The Aviation and Technical Education Department provides instruction to students seeking a certificate, an associate, and/or a baccalaureate degree. Our programs are career-focused and allow students to gain expertise in the fields of aviation, business, health professions, and trades and technology.

The Department of Aviation and Technical Education has faculty members located in Logan, Brigham City, and the USU-Eastern campuses in Price, Moab, and Blanding. Students are encouraged to enhance their education through hands-on applications using specialized classrooms and laboratories throughout the state. The department embraces technology and accessibility and offers many classes and several programs with online options. Additionally, various industries and communities are served by career and technical certifications offered through the Workforce Education programs.

Undergraduate Programs

Mission Statement

  • The mission of the Aviation and Technical Education Department is to apply the Land Grant University philosophy to teaching and learning, discovery, research, and outreach. The department’s primary function is to provide students with learning opportunities in aviation, business, health professions, and trades and technology to advance their career options.
  • We apply industry and research-guided practices as we recruit, prepare, and provide instruction for individuals in aviation, business, health professions, and trades and technology areas.
  • We value serving all populations, developing the whole person, responding to the needs of the marketplace, and functioning as a part of the total higher education system – from certificate to post-graduate instruction.
  • We use proven educational processes which include formal and informal instruction, experiential learning, leadership, and personal development at an undergraduate, graduate, and community-based level.

The department brings enthusiasm to the mission of Utah State University in supporting student-centered instruction. We believe in teaching students to be contributing members of their communities and societies.

Admission Requirements

Admission requirements for the Aviation and Technical Education Department are the same as those described for the University for incoming freshman and most transfer students. See individual program listings for additional information and requirements.

University Honors Program

The University Honors Program offers students in all colleges and majors the unique opportunity to deepen their educational experience with hands-on practical applications of their academic knowledge. The Honors Program admits incoming, transfer, and existing USU students based on application. Graduate Programs

Admission Requirements

See general admission requirements. Applications will be considered throughout the year. However, students who wish to be considered for financial aid must apply by February 1 for the coming academic year. No application will be considered until all required information arrives at the office of the School of Graduate Studies.

Requirement Changes

The graduation requirements described in this catalog are subject to change. Students should check with their advisors concerning possible changes.
