Utah State University’s Center for Anticipatory Intelligence (CAI) is a leading-edge research and teaching nexus focused on the emergent security challenges deriving from advancing technology and a changing climate. Embodying a groundbreaking approach to security thinking and university education, CAI combines top-tier expertise in engineering, data science, mathematics, biotechnology, ethics and philosophy, national security studies, geopolitics, and behavioral sciences to cross-train university students, government officials, and business professionals with the skills and analytic sophistication necessary to anticipate and confront the complex, transformative, and existential challenges of the 21st century.

CAI facilitates USU’s Minor and Graduate Certificate in Anticipatory Intelligence as well as professional training for business, government, and military personnel. CAI programs move beyond the siloed approach to university education that still remains common, tapping the problem-solving power of integrated cross-disciplinary teams in order to equip current and rising decisionmakers with the multifaceted perspective necessary to better anticipate the unprecedented threats and unintended consequences coming from converging trends in the cyber, data science, biotechnology, climate change, geopolitical, and knowledge access realms. An improved ability to see and understand the trends shaping the 21st century prepares decisionmakers with improved skill in designing strategies of resilience able to capitalize on strengths and opportunities in this complex landscape while also mitigating geopolitical, national, commercial, and even personal risks.

Further information on the Center for Anticipatory Intelligence, including mission, leadership team, student research, partners and collaboration, academic programs, and application information is available on the CAI website, cai.usu.edu.
