Psychology Department

The Department of Psychology aims to improve human flourishing by training students, conducting research, and collaborating with and serving its community. It is home to 31 tenured/tenure-track faculty, two instructional faculty, two research faculty, two clinical faculty, seven core staff, research staff, postdocs, teaching, and research assistants. We work to educate 800 undergraduate majors in Psychology and over 200 graduate students, delivering courses that fill more than 5,000 seats annually.

Degrees offered include a Bachelor of Science (BS) and Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Psychology, Master of Education (M.Ed.), Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Neuroscience, and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Psychology. Graduate specializations include Behavior Analysis, Brain & Cognition, Combined Clinical/Counseling Psychology, Data Analytics and Research Methodology, Neuroscience, School Psychology, and School Counseling.

The faculty of the psychology department conducts research on various topics, including impulsivity, self-control, addictions, relapse, treatment of severe problem behavior among individuals with disabilities, cognitive development, multisensory processing, neuropsychiatric disorders, evidence-based intervention, behavioral health, diversity & disparities, self-regulated learning, child behavior problems, school mental health, and youth and caregiver mental health.

Community engagement is an essential component of our mission. Initiatives include the American Indian Support Project and a host of services in the Sorenson Legacy Foundation Center for Clinical Excellence, including Sexual and Gender Minority Support Services, Anxiety Specialty Services, Child/Pediatric Psychology Services, Adult Psychology Services, and Integrated Assessment.
