This certificate provides students with the opportunity to work across the fields of creative writing, technical communication, and journalism to acquire the tools and the knowledge to make intentional choices in language and presentation.
The certificate draws on three areas in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, specifically Journalism and Communication (JCOM), Technical Communication and Rhetoric (TCR), and Creative Writing (CW). Students are required to complete 18 credits, including nine credits from the core classes, with one core class from each area: Journalism and Communication (JCOM), Technical Communication and Rhetoric (TCR), and Creative Writing (CW).
Students must earn a grade of C or better in courses they are counting toward the certificate and must maintain a 2.75 GPA or better in certificate courses.
