Graduate Specialization: Business Analytics and Strategic Value Creation
The MBA program is an interdepartmental program, administered by Utah State University’s Huntsman School of Business, which is designed to train students to lead, manage, and improve business performance. Huntsman MBA students know how to commercialize profitable ideas quickly, cheaply, and successfully. They possess the know-how to improve existing businesses and create new businesses and are armed with cutting-edge intelligence and analytic tools to gain a deeper and clearer understanding of both domestic and global markets, competition, and customers. The MBA program is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). The central mission of the MBA program is to:
1. Provide students with a relevant and rigorous background in business, increase student problem-solving and critical analysis skills, and develop the next generation of business leaders.
2. Provide focused education and experiences in specific areas of business (business analytics, strategic value creation, or supply chain management) to improve student employability.
Full-time, on-campus MBA students participate in a global learning experience, providing them with a transformative experience within the framework of leadership and enterprise development. Participants in the MBA experience will be empowered to reach a high level of confidence in the application of analytical tools and sophistication in managing complex organizational dynamics. The MBA program creates leaders who possess a principle-based philosophy of entrepreneurial excellence who can add value to an organization from the first day on the job.
For admission consideration to the MBA program, applicants submit an application form and fee; all undergraduate transcripts; Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT), Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores, or Miller Analogies Test (MAT); and three letters of recommendation to the School of Graduate Studies. TOEFL scores are required for international students whose native language is not English. International students with a prior degree from a university in an English-speaking country are exempt from the TOEFL exam. A minimum of one year of full-time work experience is required but two or more years of experience is preferred. No application will be considered until all required information is received by the School of Graduate Studies.
Application Deadline for Logan Campus Fall Semester
The full-time MBA program on USU’s main campus is a cohort program which starts every fall semester. Rolling admission to the on-campus program will begin on December 1 of each year for early applicants who have outstanding credentials in the areas of undergraduate GPA, GMAT/GRE scores, and letters of recommendation. Applications will be accepted until all seats are filled, with preference given to early, qualified applicants. Reviews for admissions will be conducted December through June, with a deadline of June 1 (International student deadline is May 1).
Students are held responsible for meeting requirements as outlined below. It is the student’s responsibility to be aware of all requirements and initiate the resolution of apparent inconsistencies.
Global Learning Experience
Utah State MBA on-campus students participate in a global learning experience during spring break. During the global learning experience, students critically analyze and compare enterprises in a variety of global communities at various stages of implementation. This experience broadens and challenges each student’s worldview while helping to explore leadership and entrepreneurial spirit in new, interesting and exciting ways.
In order to enhance the probability of student success in the USU MBA program, all candidates must demonstrate proficiency in the required prep courses: Accounting, Excel, Finance, and Marketing. Students will meet with an MBA advisor to determine options for completion of the prep courses.
On-Campus MBA Program Courses (36 credits)
The on-campus MBA program courses consist of 36 credits, which all students must complete. Students in the on-campus program will choose one of the specializations or can work with the MBA office to customize their program of study.
Specialization in Business Analytics (9 credits)
The competencies learned in the Business Analytics specialization focus upon business intelligence, information systems strategy, and database design and mining.
Specialization in Strategic Value Creation (9 credits)
The specialization in Strategic Value Creation focuses on strategy and venturing skills which are tremendous assets to companies which want managers capable of identifying and leading growth strategies.
Executive MBA Programs
The Utah State MBA program is also offered for working professionals at several convenient locations throughout the state of Utah and southern Idaho. Classes are taught in evening courses in face-to-face and broadcast formats. Online MBA Program
Created with working professionals in mind, the Utah State University Online MBA program combines courses taught by seasoned professors with real-world experience. Graduate assistantships, scholarships, and fellowships are available to outstanding on-campus students and are awarded on a competitive basis. Students who apply by February 1 will be considered for financial awards, which generally range between $1,600 and $5,000.
