Jon M. Huntsman School of Business

Department of Management

Objectives

The Full-Time and Professional Master of Human Resources (MHR) programs prepare students to take strategic roles assisting organizations in attracting, retaining, developing, and mobilizing talent at all levels. Students receive training in a variety of subjects, including talent acquisition and retention, leadership development, compensation and benefits, organizational effectiveness, employment law, HR analytics, project management, negotiation, and strategy. Students in the three-semester full-time campus program also complete a three-month internship and an international experience and may complete an MBA degree in one additional semester. For working professionals, the Professional program can be completed in four or six semesters. It is delivered using a blend of live, technology enhanced delivery and online instruction.

Admission Requirements

Students from any accredited undergraduate degree program are invited to apply. Applicants are required to submit scores on the Miller Analogies Test (MAT), Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT), or Graduate Record Examination (GRE) and are expected to have strong written and oral communication skills. Students are expected to be admitted to the program as matriculated students before taking coursework leading to the degree.

Western Regional Graduate Program

The program’s designation as a Western Regional Graduate Program (WRGP) means that residents of Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington and Wyoming are eligible for in-state tuition.

Degree Requirements

Students are responsible for meeting all degree requirements and to be aware of these requirements. The programs require 36 to 48 credits depending upon the undergraduate preparation of the student. Students entering the program without an undergraduate business degree will be required to complete a minimum of 12 credits in business acumen, including ACCT 2010 ACCT 2020 FIN 3400 , and MSLE 3500 , or their equivalents. Students with an undergraduate degree from an AACSB-International accredited business school will generally not be required to take the business acumen.
