Equine - Minor

Department of Animal, Dairy and Veterinary Sciences

A minor can be valuable when associated with a major in agricultural education, agricultural economics, plant science, nutrition and food science, business, economics, computer science, rangeland resources, and in other disciplines where the animal industry has direct or indirect involvement. The same departmental standards applying to the Animal, Dairy and Veterinary Sciences major also apply to all minors. Transfer students must have a minimum of one 3-credit upper-division course in residency with the approval of the ADVS academic advisor. Students must maintain a 2.5 GPA in ADVS courses.

Equine Science Minors


The Equine Science minor offers courses that cover equine healthcare and maintenance, basic equine conformation, and topics essential to current equine industry careers.  The Equine Science minor is designed to enrich students’ general equine studies and provide hands-on learning experiences throughout their education. The Equine Science minor is appropriate for students who are interested in reaching agriculturally-based career goals and would like to broaden their equine knowledge.
