Objectives
Data, Service, and Systems Security are a crucial for every industry and organization. Outstanding job opportunities strongly favor those who understand and apply secure practices that reduce corporate risk, in any IT/IS field. The Cybersecurity Certificate program unveils the mysteries of vulnerabilities and sets students up for successful careers in proactive defense, allowing students to build these critical skills in as little as one to two semesters.
Careers in information systems and data technologies are multidisciplinary and require teamwork, critical thinking, and communication. Well-qualified applicants are encouraged to apply from from any background in which they have developed and applied these skills. Potential applicants with little or no prior technical experience may first consider the Data Technologies Certificate .
Note that the Cybersecurity Certificate can be completed on its own, or it can be stacked with any one of the other certificates offered by the Department of Data Analytics & Information Systems to meet the requirements of the Master of Management Information Systems degree program. Admission
To begin the Cybersecurity Certificate, applicants can submit an application form, along with the application fee and all undergraduate transcripts through the USU School of Graduate Studies at https://gradschool.usu.edu/apply/. TOEFL or IELTS scores are required for international students whose native language is not English. International students with a prior degree from a university in an English-speaking country are exempt from the TOEFL or IELTS exam. The School of Graduate Studies requires a minimum 3.0 GPA for the last 60 credits of prior undergraduate study.

Certificate Requirements
The certificate requires 12 total credits, with 9 required credits and one additional 3-credit elective courses as outlined within the curriculum below. Individual substitutions for course requirements may be considered and approved on a case-by-case basis by the Data Analytics and Information Systems Department.
Courses used to fulfill requirements for this certificate may not include courses previously completed to meet the requirements of any other certificate or program, and cannot be used to complete any other certificate or program.
