About This Degree

Skilled accounting graduates are in high demand as they play the vital role of communicating financial information about a business to shareholders, managers, and other decision makers.

For this reason, the Utah State University School of Accountancy has developed a student-oriented teaching style in which accounting students will become experienced in financial management, business transaction tracking, financial reporting, audit, tax strategy, and information systems development.

Admission Requirements For This Program

First-Year and Transfer Students may be admitted to the Huntsman School of Business based on USU’s Admission Requirements.

Current USU Students in good standing qualify for admission into the Huntsman School of Business and to a major within the Huntsman School.

Notes:

To be recommended for graduation, Accounting - BA, BS students must have an overall 2.0 GPA as well as a 2.5 GPA in all major requirements and in all ACCT-prefix courses.
Elective credits needed will be determined on an individual basis (a student with continuing education, AP credits, and Language credits may not require additional elective credits)
Completing a minor is recommended to fulfill elective credits
An advanced accounting internship is recommended

Major Requirements (24 credits)

Grade of B or higher in ACCT 2010 ; Completion of ACCT 2020 , DATA 2100 ; Grade of C or better for all Business Acumen and a 2.5 GPA for all ACCT prefixes is required for graduation.

Note: For students double majoring in Accounting and Finance, any FIN classes taken to satisfy the ACCT major requirements will also count toward the FIN major requirements. Likewise, any ACCT classes taken to satisfy the FIN major requirements will also count toward the ACCT major requirements.
