About This Degree
Pursuing a minor in parks and recreation can provide a range of employment opportunities in the field of recreation and leisure services. These opportunities are diverse, as the ability to participate in recreational activities is influenced by individual attitudes, resources, financial capabilities, and educational awareness. Formal settings for recreation and leisure activities can include government agencies at the local, state, and federal levels, as well as quasi-public agencies, industrial and employee recreation programs, military recreation programs, and private or commercial recreation enterprises. A minor in parks and recreation can open the door to a variety of career paths in this dynamic and rewarding field.

Minor Requirements (15 credits)
New freshmen, transfer students, and students from other USU majors who have at least a 2.0 overall GPA qualify to enter the Parks and Recreation minor. A 2.0 overall GPA is required to receive the minor upon graduation with a bachelor’s degree. A minimum grade of C or better must be earned in RAM (prefix) courses. A pass/fail grading is not permitted for the minor courses, excluding P.E. activity courses and RAM 4250 . Students who are majoring in Recreation Administration may not add this minor.
