About This Degree

General Studies provides students the opportunity to pursue a personalized course of study. This allows students to explore and integrate academic offerings from across multiple departments, programs, and colleges.

  • Students may utlize Degree Works  to check student-specific program progress.
  • If unable to place in MATH 1050 or STAT 1040/1045 or STAT 1080 please see Math Requirements .
  • An Associate of Arts or Associate of Science in General Studies must be listed as the primary program. It cannot be paired with another associate degree as the secondary program or part of a dual associate degree.

Minimum University Requirements


  • Total credits: 60
  • Credits of C- or better: 50
  • Total credits taken through USU: 20
  • Minimum grade point average (GPA) for graduation: 2.0
  • Minimum credits with a letter grade : 36
  • Completion of General Education Requirements
