College of Humanities and Social Sciences

Center for Intersectional Gender Studies and Research

The Sexuality Studies Minor offers students interdisciplinary training in the study of sex, gender and sexuality. Students will gain mastery of the history of human sexuality and the formation of sexual identity and sexual expression. This interdisciplinary program will prepare students to think critically about sexuality at the intersection of race, ethnicity, social class, gender identity and gender expression. Students completing the minor will have the opportunity to take courses across a range of disciplines including anthropology, religious studies, political science, sociology and history.

To complete the undergraduate minor, students must complete 18 credits of coursework, including three required core courses and three elective courses. Elective courses are drawn from a range of disciplines and students are encouraged to explore courses that expose them to different perspectives.

The minor is available to all majors. A grade of C or better is required for all courses taken to meet the requirements of the minor. To graduate with a Sexuality Studies Minor, students must have a minimum GPA of 2.5.
