About This Degree:

The mission of the Bachelor of Science in Environmental Planning is to prepare future professionals to recognize the reciprocal relationship between the biophysical attributes of a region and the human dimensions of settlement and culture; build expertise in large-scale landscape level analysis and planning, and serve as leaders within a transdisciplinary environment to develop better alternatives for land-use decisions and policy.

The program will produce highly skilled environmental planners for multiple levels of professional practice while actively engaging and benefitting communities with landscape-scale planning projects.

Admission Requirements For This Program


  • New freshmen: Admitted to USU in Good Standing
  • Transfer students from other institutions or other programs at USU: 2.50 GPA

Program Requirements


A minimum overall GPA of 3.0 is required in LAEP-prefix courses, with no individual LAEP-prefix course grade less than a B-. No pass/fail grades are accepted to fulfill LAEP-prefix courses. Once matriculated, a minimum GPA of 2.5 in major requirements is required to graduate with this degree.

Optional Elective Courses (20-22 credits)


The following are suggested electives only. Total elective credit is determined by General Education courses taken, degree type selected, additional credits earned, and any additional math or other prerequisite courses needed. Any electives may be taken to complete the 14-16 needed to total 120 credits for graduation. Please consult your Academic Advisor for details.
