In order to qualify for the certificate, students must:

  1. Complete all General Education Requirements ;
  2. Complete at least seven (7) of the general education credits from Utah State University; and
  3. Earn a minimum GPA of 2.0 in coursework taken to fulfill certificate requirements.

Passing grades are accepted.

Optional Methods for Completing GE Requirements

Students may also complete general education requirements through a combination of Concurrent Enrollment (CE) courses in high school, Advanced Placement (AP) courses in high school, or by taking a series of tests under the College Level Examination Program (CLEP).

Transfer of General Education Course Credits

Students transferring to USU from another institution are required to forward an official transcript for each college or university attended. Credits earned in general education from a campus in the Utah System of Higher Education (USHE) are transferable to USU. Credits earned at a community college or at a university outside of the state of Utah will be evaluated before acceptance for transfer to USU by the Registrar’s Office.
