The Equine Assisted Services Institutional Certificate of Proficiency (ICP) provides a foundational overview of the field of Equine Assisted Services (EAS) in which horses are used in various therapies, learning environments, and adaptive equine sports and/or recreational lessons to benefit humans’ mental, physical, and/or emotional health. Through the required courses, students will gain an understanding of the principles of equine-assisted services, the human-animal bond, how to train and assess horses for EAS, and the fundamentals of instructing horsemanship skills. Hands-on labs are provided to enhance student learning. With this foundational knowledge of EAS, students will be prepared to pursue industry certifications.

Students must be in good standing (2.0 GPA or higher) to be admitted to the program. Students must have a 2.5 GPA or higher in the required courses in order to graduate.
