The Precision Agriculture Technology-Institutional Certificate of Proficiency is designed to prepare undergraduate students wishing to enhance their portfolios to understand and implement precision agriculture technology. Precision agriculture is a multi-faceted science that involves several different disciplines – including plant, soil, and climate sciences, several facets of engineering (electrical, agriculture, biological, irrigation, etc.), agricultural technologies and systems, applied economics, statistics, mathematics, and geographic information systems. This certificate incorporates these disciplines with courses from four departments (PSC, CEE, APEC, and ASTE). This certificate may be earned as a stand-alone certification or as part of a participating department’s undergraduate program.
Students who complete the program will receive an institutional certificate of proficiency in Precision Agriculture Technology. They will learn and become proficient in the latest techniques, tools, and technologies for precision agriculture, including site-specific management of crop inputs. Their USU transcript will list the courses and grades received to complete the certificate.
