French Minor Requirements (12 credits)
- Total Credits for French Minor: 12
- Grade Point Average to Declare French Minor: 2.0 Career GPA
- Grade Point Average to Graduate with French Minor: 2.0 GPA within minor coursework
- USU Credit Requirement: At least half (50 percent) of the credits earned for this degree must be completed in upper-division USU courses having prefixes of FREN or LING. All other credits (including transfer and study abroad credits) must be approved by the program’s academic advisor in order to be counted toward the minor. Students who have completed Bridge Program Language courses should contact their advisor as these courses may count toward elective credits and credits toward minor requirements.
- Minimum Grade Requirement: All courses taken for the French minor or major require a minimum grade of C- or better. Courses for the minor may not be taken on a pass/fail basis, except the Study Abroad course FREN 3030 .

1 Students with foreign experience may be advised to enroll in FREN 3090 or FREN 4090 , depending upon results of a placement test and/or instructor’s determination. 2 This course may be repeated one time for credit with different content. Bridge Program Requirements
Bridge Pathway: Students who participated in a High School French Bridge Program should follow the instructions below for successful completion of the French minor. - Credits in Residence: At least half (50 percent) of the credits earned for this minor must be earned at USU. Bridge courses will count toward credits in residence and toward the French minor or major.
- AP Exam: Bridge and/or (Dual Language Immersion (DLI) students who received a score of 3 or higher on the AP French Exam may register directly for courses at the 3000-level or 4000-level without having to take any of the lower-division French courses or another placement test.
- Bridge Courses: FREN 3116 , FREN 3117 , and FREN 3118 should be transferred through the Registrar’s Office if taken through another University than USU.
If Bridge student successfully completed: - 1 Bridge course: Take three more 3 credit upper-division French electives
- 2 Bridge courses: Take two more 3 credit upper-division French electives
- 3 Bridge courses: Take one more 3 credit upper-division French electives
Student should have taken 4 classes (for a total of 12 credits) of upper-division French coursework to complete the minor, Bridge classes included. Related Programs
