Course Description

Examination of a particular genre or body of works from a variety of periods and authors (e.g., novel, play, poetry, short story, film). Involves close reading, discussion, analysis, and interpretation of selected literary and nonliterary texts. Sample topics include: Romance Novels from the Middle Ages to the Present, From Classical to Contemporary French Theatre, French poetry from Baudelaire to Ponge, The Nouveau Roman, New Wave French Cinema, and The Negritude Movement.
