Course Description
This course introduces students to biostatistical and epidemiological principles and concepts with focused emphasis on public health application. It covers techniques most commonly employed to investigate public health issues. Students work with public health data using the statistical package SPSS.

1. Explain different types of data collection methods and illustrate when to use them in public health data generation.
2. Apply descriptive and inferential statistics to analyze numeric quantitative and non-numeric quanlitative response variables.
3. Review and interpret statistical method(s) presented in public health and related literature.
4. Apply statistical program(s) to analyze public health and epidemiological datasets, interpret computer outputs, and evaluate them for implications to public health contexts.
Prerequisite
Pretest
Students must pass the pretest with at least 70% or higher at least three weeks prior to the course start date. Pretest is good for one year.
