Spanish Minor Requirements (15 credits)
- Total Credits: 15
- Grade Point Average to Declare Spanish Minor: 3.0 Overall GPA
- Grade Point Average to Graduate with Spanish Major: 3.0 GPA within minor coursework
- Credits in Residence: At least half (50 percent) of the credits earned for this degree must be completed in upper-division USU courses having prefixes of SPAN or LING. All other credits (including transfer and study abroad credits) must be approved by the program’s academic advisor in order to be counted toward the minor. Students who have completed bridge courses should contact their advisor as these courses will count toward elective credits and credits in residence.
- Minimum Grade Requirement: All courses taken for the Spanish minor require a minimum grade of C- or better. Courses taken for the Spanish minor may not be taken on a pass/fail basis (except courses designated as pass/fail, such as SPAN 3010 , SPAN 3520 and SPAN 4920 ).
A. Required Courses (12 credits)
Students should complete at least one course from Group I and Group II before taking SPAN 3300 (required course). Students should then take one course from Group III.
Group I
Select at least ONE course from this group: Group II
Select at least ONE course from this group: Required Course
It is recommended but not required that SPAN 3300 should be taken after the student completes a course from Group I and Group II.
Group III
Select at least ONE course from this group:
B. Elective Course (3 credits)
Select 3 credits from the following elective course options: Note:
1 This course or practicum is required for a teaching emphasis in the Spanish minor.
2 Students desiring to apply study abroad credits toward these degrees must obtain approval from the LPCS office prior to participating.
3 This course is repeatable for credit.
