Students must complete the following courses (18 credits)
Overview:
The purpose of the School Library Media Administration program is to provide both pre and in-service teachers with the courses necessary to meet the requirements for library media K-12 endorsement as a school library media specialist/teacher in the state of Utah. It is assumed that the individual seeking teacher endorsement in library media holds, or is working toward, licensure as a classroom teacher. Students enrolled in the teacher education program at either the elementary or secondary education level at Utah State University may elect the program as an undergraduate minor. Program:
The program is designed for students to begin fall semester and complete all requirements by the end of summer semester. The program consists of six courses for a total of eighteen credits. A minimum of fifteen of the eighteen required credits must be taken through the Department of Instructional Technology & Learning Sciences at Utah State University for a departmental recommendation to the Utah State Office of Education for endorsement. The courses are broadcast on Tuesday nights each semester, with additional materials and assignment on line. ________________________________________________________ Completion of the coursework does not automatically guarantee a recommendation by the Instructional Technology & Learning Sciences Department to the Utah State Office of Education. A recommendation for the library media K-12 endorsement will be made when the student has: - Approval of the practicum advisor
- Completed the program with a 3.0 or higher grade point average
- Demonstrated competency in all coursework
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills to work effectively with students and teachers
________________________________________________________ Note: If you are currently not a student at Utah State University, you must apply and be accepted before you begin the coursework. Use the online transfer student application form (available at http://www.usu.edu/admissions/) or work with your local Utah State University Regional Campus. Directions for completing the online transfer student application form are available on the Instructional Technology & Learning Sciences website (http://itls.usu.edu/). |
