Program Information

USU admits up to 30 students once a year into the Nursing BSN program. Applicants must complete the following prior to acceptance into the program:

  1. Complete all application prerequisites with a B- grade or better prior to application submission:
    1. BIOL 2060: Elementary Microbiology  
    2. BIOL 2320: Human Anatomy  
    3. BIOL 2420: Human Physiology  
    4. CHEM 1110: General Chemistry I (BPS)  
    5. HDFS 1500: Human Development Across the Lifespan (BSS)  
    6. STAT 1040: Introduction to Statistics (QL) , STAT 1045: Introduction to Statistics with Elements of Algebra (QL) , or higher-level statistics.
  2. Complete the following prerequisites by the end of the spring semester of the application year with a B- or better prior to enrolling in the nursing program:
    1. CHEM 1120: General Chemistry II (BPS)  
    2. CHEM 1125: General Chemistry II Laboratory  
    3. NDFS 1020: Science and Application of Human Nutrition (BLS)  
    4. NURS 2500: Pathophysiology for Nursing  
  3. Have an overall GPA or 3.0 or higher.
  4. Successful completion of the ATI Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) Exam.
  5. Submit all required application materials and references.
  6. B- grade or better is required in all pre-requisite and NURS major courses.

The Nursing Application is available the first week of spring semester. The following prerequisite courses must be completed with a B- or higher: BIOL 2060, 2320, 2420, CHEM 1110, FCHD 1500 and STAT 1040 or 1045. In addition, a 3.0 overall GPA is required.

Once admitted to the nursing program the following courses must be completed prior to nursing courses beginning: CHEM 1120, 1125, NDFS 1120, and NURS 2500. CHEM 1120, 1125 and NURS 2500 must be passed with a grade of B- or higher. Students must maintain a B- or better in NURS courses and a 3.0 overall GPA.
