The BFA in Art Education is a professional art degree requiring above-average accomplishment in art. Only students demonstrating considerable promise will be accepted for this more demanding professional degree program. This degree requires 80 semester credits in Art, leaving 42 credits to fulfill all other General Education, University Studies and Secondary Education requirements. A GPA of 3.00 is required for the BFA degree. A grade of B- or better is required in all art (ART), art history (ARTH) and secondary education classes. Major requirements may not be taken for a pass/fail grade, except for courses only taught pass/fail. This degree fulfills the requirements for entrance into graduate schools of art.
Students must complete the General Education Requirements .
Students must complete the University Studies Depth Requirements .
- For most students, courses taken for the major will fulfill the Communications Intensive (CI) requirement.
- Students must take one course having a QI designation to fulfill the Quantitative Intensive (QI) requirement.
- Complete at least 2 credits in approved 3000-level or above courses from each of the following two categories: Depth Life and Physical Sciences (DSC) and Depth Social Sciences (DSS) .
- Upon successful completion of all degree requirements, students will be eligible to apply for a Utah Educator License. The following links provide information about licensure:
