- Current and admitted students should meet with an advisor to co-create and update their 4-year student-specific Degree Works plan.
Program Information
USU admits up to 30 students once a year into the Nursing BSN program. Applicants must complete the following prior to acceptance into the program:
- Complete all application prerequisites with a grade of B- or better prior to application submission:
- BIOL 2060: Elementary Microbiology
- BIOL 2320: Human Anatomy
- BIOL 2420: Human Physiology - must be completed within 5 years of entrance into the BSN program.
- CHEM 1110: General Chemistry I (BPS)
- HDFS 1500: Human Development Across the Lifespan (BSS)
- STAT 1040: Introduction to Statistics (QL) , STAT 1045: Introduction to Statistics with Elements of Algebra (QL) , or higher-level statistics.
- Complete the following prerequisites by the end of the spring semester of the application year with a grade of B- or better prior to enrolling in the nursing program:
- CHEM 1120: General Chemistry II (BPS)
- CHEM 1125: General Chemistry II Laboratory
- NDFS 1020: Science and Application of Human Nutrition (BLS)
- NURS 2500: Pathophysiology for Nursing / BIOL 2520 Pathophysiology
- Have an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Successful completion (75% or better) on the HESI A2 exam. Applicants are allowed two attempts per application cycle. Two weeks in between attempts is required.

Submit all required application materials, including a personal statement, professional resume, HESI A2 exam result, and application receipt.
- A Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Medical Assistant (MA) is required for entrance to the BSN program.

A grade of B- or better is required in all prerequisite courses. Courses may not be taken on a pass/fail basis. Applicants who have completed prerequisite courses with more than three attempts without achieving a grade of B- or better will not be considered for admission. AP credit is pass/fail. See your advisor for details of approved prerequisite AP course credit.
After acceptance to the USU BSN program, students will be given instructions on how to submit results of a clean criminal background check, a negative drug screen, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and proof of required immunizations per program policy.
A grade of B- or better is required in all NURS major courses. Courses may not be taken on a pass/fail basis. Students must maintain a 79.5% exam average in all nursing courses. Students will receive the lesser of the exam average or overall course average as the course grade.

Comments
The Nursing Application is available January 1st-February 15th. The following prerequisite courses must be completed with a grade of B- or better: BIOL 2060 , BIOL 2320 , BIOL 2420 (must be completed within 5 years of entrance into the BSN program), CHEM 1110 , HDFS 1500 and STAT 1040 or STAT 1045 . In addition, a 3.0 overall GPA is required.

Comments
Prior to beginning nursing courses, students must maintain a 3.0 overall GPA and complete the following courses with a grade of B- or better: CHEM 1120 , CHEM 1125 , NDFS 1020 , and NURS 2500 . Once admitted to the nursing program, a grade of B- or better in NURS courses, a 3.0 overall GPA, and a 79.5% minimum exam average in all NURS courses is required.

Bachelor of Nursing Program Requirements
- Maintain a grade of B- or better in all prerequisite and NURS courses. Courses may not be taken on a pass/fail basis.
- Maintain a minimum overall GPA of 3.0.
- Maintain a minimum exam average of 79.5% in all NURS courses.
