Emma Eccles Jones College of Education and Human Services

Department of Human Development and Family Studies

Master in Human Development and Family Studies

Typically, students are admitted only to the HDFS Master of Science program, not the MHDFS. However, based on career goals, occasionally a student will be approved by their faculty supervisory advisor and the HDFS graduate committee to switch from the HDFS MS program to the MHDFS program after several semesters. This is approved if their capstone project fits better as a Plan C project, instead of a thesis. The core substantive courses for both the MS and the MHDFS master’s degrees include HDFS 6031 HDFS 6060 , and HDFS 6070 . MHDFS students also complete degree requirements (practicum and capstone experience) and electives under their chosen topical area selected with the guidance of their faculty supervisory advisor. For more specific information, see the department’s Graduate Student Handbook online at: cehs.usu.edu/hdfs/graduate/handbook.
