Jon M. Huntsman School of Business
Department of Data Analytics and Information Systems
Objectives
The Harvard Business Review has called data science the “sexiest job of the 21st century.” Data analysts and data scientists are in heavy demand by companies who need to make strategic decisions in an increasingly data-driven world. In completing the Data Analytics certificate, students gain practical hands-on experience applying the latest data technologies and sophisticated analytical methods, developing advanced skills in programming, machine learning and artificial intelligence, visualization, and data mining. The Data Analytics Certificate program allows students to build these critical skills in as little as one to two semesters.
Careers in information systems and data technologies are multidisciplinary and require teamwork, critical thinking, and communication. Well-qualified applicants are encouraged to apply from any background in which they have developed and applied these skills. Potential applicants with little or no prior technical experience may first consider the Data Technologies Certificate .
Note that the Data Analytics Certificate can be completed on its own, or it can be stacked with any one of the other certificates offered by the Department of Data Analytics & Information Systems to meet the requirements of the Master of Management Information Systems degree program. (Click here for more information.)
Admission
To begin the Data Analytics Certificate, applicants can submit an application form, along with the application fee and all undergraduate transcripts through the USU School of Graduate Studies at https://gradschool.usu.edu/apply/.
