Comments

Students who have not attended any school beyond high school and have a declared major in the Huntsman School of Business are expected to enroll in BUS 1000 during their first year at USU.

*The course is intended to acculturate students to college life, and is therefore not relevant for internal or external transfer students. Thus, transfer students are not expected to enroll in BUS 1000. BUS 1000 is an in-person course on the Logan campus for now, so those at statewide campuses or online are not able to enroll, and thus not expected to enroll.

Students must also complete the University Studies Depth Requirements

  • Elective credits needed will be determined on an individual basis (a student with continuing education, AP credits, and Language credits may not require additional elective credits).
  • Completing a minor is recommended to fulfill elective credits.
  • Students are encouraged to enhance their educational experience through use of the Roadmap to Graduation and Student Success found at huntsman.usu.edu/advising/htm/road-map-to-graduation/.
  • The Huntsman School of Business adheres to the USU repeat policy in the following manner: a student is limited to 10 repeats total to earn a degree from Utah State University.
  • The Huntsman School of Business restricts the number of times a specific course can be taken as follows: students may take a business course twice (once, plus one repeat). Beyond two attempts, the student’s dean must approve additional registration for the class.

Graduation Requirements

To be recommended by the department for graduation, majors in the Department of Economics and Finance must have a grade point average of at least 2.50 in their upper-division Huntsman School of Business acumen and major requirement courses, a grade of C or better in HSB business acumen courses, and an overall GPA of 2.0. Major requirements may not be taken on a pass/fail basis. This includes transfer credits. At least fifty percent of the business credits required for a business degree must be taken on the Utah State University campus or at a designated residence center.

Major Requirements

Completion with a 2.5 cumulative and major GPA is required for graduation. All major courses require a grade of C or better.

Business Acumen

All acumen courses must have a minimum grade of C unless otherwise stated.
