About This Degree
The Agribusiness major with Farm and Ranch Management emphasis provides a foundation for employment in the agricultural sector and in businesses and institutions serving agriculture and rural regions, such as banks and financial institutions, production, marketing and buying cooperatives, value-added food producers, real estate and land management, agricultural chemical production and sales, and farms and ranches. Graduates of this program are employed in a variety of agribusiness operations throughout the United States. Agribusiness graduates have achieved prominence in positions in wholesale and retail sales and service, stock and commodity brokerage, real estate appraisal, banking and farm credit, insurance, and in farm and ranch operations. Classwork provides training in basic business and economics, as well as the specific management tools required for agricultural enterprises.
The Agribusiness Major with Farm and Ranch Management emphasis can be very versatile, and with careful selection of elective credits, students can be well trained for a wide variety of agribusiness careers. For example, students who graduate in the AgSystems Option of the degree will be well trained to work in the agribusiness equipment sector of the economy or to work in production agriculture. Students who plan to work in production agriculture on a farm or ranch can obtain a minor in either Animal and Dairy Science or in Agronomy to complement the Agribusiness Major with Farm and Ranch Management emphasis. Great opportunities abound for students with Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness with Farm and Ranch Management emphasis from USU.

- Transfer students from other institutions or other programs at USU: 2.5 GPA
Additional Information
To graduate with a bachelor’s degree in Agribusiness with a Farm and Ranch Management emphasis, a student must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher in all major and emphasis courses, as well as a grade of C or better in each course required for the major. Agribusiness majors with a dual major must satisfy the admission and graduation requirements of both majors. All required courses must be taken for a letter grade.

Agribusiness Program Requirements (46-48 credits)
Students must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher in all major and emphasis courses, as well as a grade of C or better in each major and emphasis course. All required courses must be taken for a letter grade.
Farm and Ranch Management Emphasis Requirements (12 credits)
College of Agriculture and Applied Sciences Elective Requirement (12 credits)
Students must complete 6 credits of lower-division and 6 credits of upper-division courses with the following prefixes: ADVS, ASTE, LAEP, NDFS, and PSC. Contact the program’s academic advisor for recommendations or additional options.
Open Electives
Total elective credit is determined by General Education courses taken, degree type selected, additional credits earned, and any additional math or other prerequisite courses needed. Please consult your Academic Advisor for details.
