Education Paraprofessional - Certificate of Completion

The Education Paraprofessional Certificate of Completion is intended to prepare individuals who have graduated from high school and who have been hired as paraprofessional in the public schools to improve their practice as a paraprofessional and to move toward teacher licensure if they so choose. Students are admitted to the program as a cohort and move through the program on a cohort basis. The schedule requires approximately 6-9 credits per semester to accommodate the paraprofessionals’ work schedules. The program is offered entirely on-line.

Minimum University Requirements


  • Total Credits: 33
  • Credits of C- or better: 33
  • General Education Requirements : 19
  • Grade Point Average (most majors require higher GPA): 3.0
  • Total USU Credits: 33
  • Credits in American Institutions (BAI ) (Elective): 3

Admission Requirements For This Program


  • New freshmen must be admitted to USU in Good Standing.
  • High School Diploma & hiring as a paraprofessional in a participating school district.

Major Requirements (33 credits)


  • Program may be taken totally on-line.
  • Students complete the program as a cohort from a participating school district.
  • This program requires an overall GPA of 3.0 as well as a GPA of 3.0 in major requirements.
  • Program requirements may not be taken on a pass/fail basis, unless the course is only taught pass/fail.
