Medical Assistant - Technical Certificate

Medical assistants are multi-skilled, allied health care professionals responsible for various clinical and/or administrative duties and are an essential part of a healthcare team. This program is designed to prepare students for entry-level positions that will allow them to learn and move into higher-level job opportunities by working with physicians and providers in office settings. Students in this program learn cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains by focusing on administrative and back office clinical skills. Upon successful completion of all required courses, students participate in an externship in a medical office. Graduates of the program are eligible to take a national certification exam.

National Certification and Examination

After successful completion of the required coursework, students may sit for the Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) through American Medical Technologists (AMT)

2. Maintain a 2.67 GPA throughout program

Personal Documentation Requirements:

• Pass background check and drug screen

• Provide documentation of Immunizations 

  Physical Demands:

  • Stand or sit for 10 hours per day

  • Push and pull 50 pounds

  • Lift and support 25 pounds

  • Move within confined spaces

  • Manipulate suture as fine as human with/without glasses or contacts. 

  • Effective verbal communication in English without visual clues

  • Hear normal speaking level sounds

  • Hear in situations when not able to see lips (when masks are used)

  • Communicate verbally with others
