The Communication Studies minor at USU is designed to help students develop a broad range of communication skills and an understanding of how communication affects individuals, organizations, and societies.
This minor is designed to:
Increase your communicative competence in both public and private settings.
Help you understand, explain, and transform communication messages in a variety of settings.
Improve your ability to carefully explore and think through communication-related challenges and come up with effective solutions.
To declare a communication minor, students need to contact the department's academic advisor.
Students receive a minor by completing twelve Communication Studies (CMST) credits. Please make sure to consult regularly with your departmental advisor to confirm what courses will be available and to work out your plan of study.
Admitted and current students are encouraged to meet with the academic advisor for the program.
Once declared, log on to Degree Works to check student-specific program progress.

Students must contact the academic advisor for admission to the major.
New freshmen must be admitted to USU in Good Standing.
Transfer students from other institutions or other programs at USU must have a 2.5 GPA.
