About this Degree
The MA in Motion Design offers advanced study in 2D and 3D motion methodologies and technologies, digital media theory, design for motion, video, and emerging media forms such as AI and augmented/virtual reality. The MA is a 30-credit (3 semester) program that culminates in a plan B master’s thesis research project and exhibition. It is intended for students with a strong educational background in graphic design and for professional designers seeking to expand their motion-related abilities and professional competencies.
Admission Requirements for this Program
Successful applicants must exhibit academic excellence along with a portfolio that displays a strong understanding of graphic design and typography. A BFA or equivalent in a design related field is required. GPA in design courses during the last two years of undergraduate work must be at least 3.0 on a 4-point scale. A digital portfolio of recent work must be included in the application for consideration. Previous experience in motion design is not required.
Portfolios will be evaluated by faculty members to determine acceptance based on overall strength of applicant’s work.
