The Law Enforcement Officer technical certificate is designed to help students prepare for a career in Law Enforcement and certification under Utah law. All law enforcement departments must have all police officers complete this program before performing the duties of a patrol officer, investigator, or deputy. This program functions to allow students a high-quality and structured entry into the field of criminal justice with a marketable skill set and state-recognized credentials. Students who complete the certificate will be prepared to work in law enforcement and prepare for a career that can be stacked upward into a future degree.

Admission Requirements for this Program

  • Successfully completed the SFO certification test in the past 4 years AND/OR employment with an agency and engaging in SFO duties.

  • At least 21 years of age at the time of certification for LEO

  • If over 12 months since completing the SFO certification, they applicant must the LEO entry test.
