About this Degree
The Physical Education Teaching Minor at Utah State University is designed to prepare students to teach physical education in K–12 school settings. This program includes the required coursework and practicum experiences necessary to apply for the Physical Education endorsement through the Utah State Board of Education (USBE).
To be eligible for the USBE endorsement, students must either hold or be actively working toward a valid Utah teaching license. This minor is an excellent addition for students in teacher preparation programs who want to expand their qualifications and increase their teaching versatility.
Important Note: Completion of the academic requirements does not automatically guarantee a recommendation for the USBE endorsement. A formal recommendation will be made only when the following conditions are met:
Successful completion of all required coursework with a grade of C or better, along with Student Teaching Education Program (STEP) requirements
Possession of a current and valid Utah teaching license
Submission of all required forms and applicable fees
This minor cannot be used on its own to obtain teaching licensure unless the student is also completing a teaching major. For more information, please contact the academic advisors in the Department of Kinesiology and Health Science.
