About this Degree
The Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) in Technology and Design is a flexible, stackable degree designed for students with a variety of educational backgrounds. Whether beginning their studies at Utah State University (USU) or transferring in with a certificate from a Utah technical college, students can build a customized degree that combines hands-on training with academic coursework. This program helps students earn a college credential while gaining the skills needed to succeed in today’s workforce.
Degree Structure
Students may apply up to 30 credits of approved coursework from a Utah Technical College certificate toward the A.A.S. in Technology and Design.
Students who apply technical college credit will complete an additional 10 credits of specialized electives. In consultation with an academic advisor, students will select courses aligned with an emphasis area that supports their career goals and academic interests.
Available emphasis areas include:
Technology and Design: Health Sciences Emphasis (A.A.S.)
Technology and Design: Design and Creative Arts Emphasis (A.A.S.)
Technology and Design: General Business Emphasis (A.A.S.)
Technology and Design: Technology Systems Emphasis (A.A.S.)
Approved courses for all emphasis areas are listed in the program requirements.
Students who do not have technical college credit will complete their degree coursework through advisor‑guided course selection at USU. Working closely with an academic advisor, students will select courses that align with their career interests, professional goals, and academic objectives. Coursework is intentionally chosen to help students develop relevant skills, explore areas of interest, and prepare for employment or future educational opportunities.
