About this Degree
The Freshwater and Marine Ecology (FAME) Bachelor of Science major at Utah State University integrates freshwater and marine ecology to prepare students for careers that focus on the structure, function, and conservation of aquatic environments—from headwater streams to open oceans.
At the heart of the FAME program is a deep exploration of how aquatic ecosystems work, how they respond to natural and human-driven changes, and how they support biodiversity and societal wellbeing. In this major, students explore the biological, chemical, and physical processes that sustain life in water, and they gain hands-on skills in ecology, restoration, conservation, and environmental data analysis.
