Course Learning Outcomes

1. Use appropriate terminology to describe common domestic animal species, products, and management practices.
2. Explain fundamental biological principles—including reproduction, genetics, nutrition, health, and welfare—as they apply to animal agriculture and companion animal care.
3. Compare major sectors of animal production, recognizing historical developments, current practices, and the role of animals in meeting human needs for food, fiber, and other products.
4. Evaluate credible scientific information and apply the scientific method to form evidence-based perspectives on issues in animal science and animal management.
5. Demonstrate understanding of industry standards for safe, ethical, and sustainable animal handling and product use.
