Course Learning Outcomes
Students will be able to apply critical thinking skills in reading written histories of education/art education to identify and question interpretations of historical events and their impact on contemporary art education. (IDEA 1)
Students will be able to interpret ideas, events, and art educators of the past in their intellectual, social, cultural, political and economic contexts, nationally and in relation to the purposes for art education and contemporary art education practice. (IDEA 1)
Students will be able to demonstrate an understanding of educational movements in American history by contributing to an artistic mapping timeline that aims to identify historical themes and movements that have impacted the field of contemporary art education. (IDEA 1)
Students will be able to apply USBE standards of learning to develop a lesson for a secondary school environment. (IDEA 3)
Students will understand the professional expectations of educators and engage in reflective practices to begin the development of an artist-teacher identity. (IDEA 4)
Students will be able to build relationships with peers and actively engage in a variety of artistic, educational, and/or service projects that will help develop the professional competencies required of art education professionals.
