Course Learning Outcomes

  1. Explain and apply the Fundamentals of Instruction (FOI), including learning theory, effective communication, human behavior, evaluation techniques, etc. in accordance with FAA guidance. 

  2. Interpret and apply Federal Aviation Regulations (Parts 61 and 91) and other FAA publications relevant to flight instruction, pilot certification, and endorsements. 

  3. Develop and deliver effective ground instruction lessons that communicate complex aeronautical concepts clearly and accurately to student pilots. 

  4. Demonstrate advanced written and oral communication skills through the use of lesson plans and formal presentations that integrate aeronautical content with instructional best practices. 

  5. Design instructional materials and teaching strategies aligned with the FAA Certified Flight Instructor handbook and the learning needs of diverse aviation students. 

  6. Exhibit professional instructional competence and communication proficiency required to meet both FAA flight instructor certification standards and Utah State University’s Communication Intensive criteria.
