Course Learning Outcomes

1. Gain the ability to operate many optical instruments and perform optical alignment.
2. Be able to characterize the transmission and reflection of waveguides that range from metallic microwave waveguides on a chip to dielectric optical waveguides on a chip.
3. Gain an understanding basic wave optics, including polarization, interference, resonance, and coupling.
4. Be able to characterize photon sources, photon detectors, and the quantum states of entangled photons.
