Course Learning Outcomes

  1. Identify and articulate durable skills developed through the English major, such as critical thinking, writing, research, communication, creativity, and cultural competency.

  2. Connect coursework to a range of career pathways, recognizing how skills obtained through the English major apply across industries and professions.

  3. Engage with faculty, advisors, and alumni to explore professional pathways, build academic networks, and plan for completion of the degree.

  4. Discover and evaluate enrichment opportunities, including internships, study abroad programs, scholarships, research fellowships and grants, and opportunities to present and publish undergraduate research.

  5. Reflect on personal academic goals and begin to craft a professional narrative that integrates English studies with future career goals.

  6. Develop strategies for career readiness, including resume building, job searching, and marketing English major skills in job searches.
