Course Learning Outcomes
1. Students will develop a clearer understanding of the role of public lands in a diverse cultural landscape and the issues that give rise to conflict and debate regarding the use and management of public lands.
2. Students will learn to analyze and critically evaluate ideas, arguments, and points of view concerning the designation and management of public lands.
3. Students will learn about and gain experience with using interdisciplinary methods to study public lands, drawing on approaches from the fields of history, literary studies, anthropology, environmental studies and public policy development.
4. Students will learn to summarize and engage with the theses of a wide range of texts.
5. Students will learn to write clearly and argue logically in a range of assignments that draw on a diverse range of disciplinary methods including those associated with history, literary studies, social and cultural anthropology, environmental studies and public policy.
