ENVS4020 - Foundations of Environmental Thought (DHA/CI) - 3 - Credits
Course Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, students will be able to:
Analyze how historical, cultural, and ecological perspectives shape contemporary environmental challenges
Evaluate differing environmental worldviews—including scientific and ethical perspectives—to compare how societies understand and manage natural resources.
Apply ecological and systems-based frameworks (e.g., trophic dynamics, Lotka–Volterra models) to interpret human–environment interactions across space and through time.
Synthesize historical and scientific evidence to develop explanations for how past societies responded to environmental change and assess implications for modern environmental management.
Communicate environmental insights clearly and professionally through written, oral, and visual formats, culminating in a scientific poster that integrates course concepts to address a contemporary issue using lessons from the past.
